Brighter Fall Colors

You don't need to go up to the white mountains to see great fall colors, although it is a nice treat.

I took this photo yesterday as the sun was setting behind the clouds that gave everything a nice orange glow for about ten minutes till it started to get dark. I wanted to show how the light glazed the beautiful tree tops.

I was in Budapest last year, and only saw the foliage a few times when I went out to Margaret Island. This fall, I'm in New England! :D I'd almost forgotten how pretty the trees are in the autumn. I used to take it for granted when I was younger.

Some of the colors this season seem to be very bright! I love it!

Long Upload times

Here's another photo from the wedding.

Yuck! It takes so long to upload to Pictage. I realize the images are big, but it still shouldn't take a few hours for 50 photos. I've only uploaded half of the photos so far. I'll do the other half tomorrow. Sorry to keep you guys waiting. Once that's done, I can send out an email to all the guests that signed up!

It's Sunday, and there's no Simpsons on tonight. :(

I'm quite tired. I haven't had a chance to get the images together from the wedding. I will have time after work tomorrow.Check back sometime Monday night, or Tuesday.

Congrats Molly and Richard! :D

Here's a few images. (a teaser) More to come!

Molly's Wedding Tomorrow!

I'm wicked excited for tomorrow! I should arrive at the site to get some preparation shots at around 12:15!

I got a new camera so I can take decent videos and quick snaps on the go!

It's the new Casio S10! It's great! It's super portable, takes super high quality movies, and is very fast on the load up (takes less than 2 seconds from off to snap away).

I needed it for the video mostly (which is wonderful!) And it does 1o mega pixels. Well, I dialed it down to 4 mega pixels, because I know better, and I know what I'm shooting. If I want great pro photos, I'll get out my 40D or better yet, my film camera. This little baby is for on the go and in my pocket.

So you'll be seeing some videos on my blog. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, but it will be fun!

It came with a nice table stand for portability. I was surprised it had such a nice tripod mount for such a tiny camera! It makes sense for video. And the video is impressive for such a tiny little thing. I would not go with those "Flip" video recorders and just get a Casio ultra compact instead. It takes great videos, and better yet, it takes great photos! The older models are about the same price as a flip, so you might as well get a camera that does nice video.

Enough about the camera, I'll have some video up tomorrow before I take off for the wedding! :D

I'm so excited!

:D :D :D

On Movie Magic, and Reality

I think it's very interesting how we in life experience reality, both in visual and audio sensory.

Our other senses are wonderful and powerful, but I want to talk about film and video right now.

:D

These are my thoughts and interpretations, though I have a theory they are common to many readers.

Film has a special quality. It brings about a dreamlike creative, and a bit distorted interpretation of reality. It can be warm, fluid and soft.

Video seems a bit too real to be reality. It is often cold, harsh, and dragging.

I find it interesting how a good real life interpretations cannot be pure video or pure film. A realist seems to bend reality as much as the distorted creations of dreaming fiction. Is it good to make a realistic (true to our biological interpretation) image?

Many people love black and white due to it's different portrayal of reality. It creates new things, new feelings. Not everything looks good in black and white. Sometimes it can simplify things, or point out the texture giving feeling to an image.

This is why I don't mind fooling around with things in image editing programs, or simply setting my camera to have more or less saturation/contrast. Creativity should not be limited to pure photography or film, or video. Pure art involves choosing a medium to film, paint, or sculpt with as well as the finishing touches of post production.

Film and digital cameras cannot (and shouldn't) interpret an exact reality. In fact, neither can your brain (technically speaking). We see what our brain interprets. We can only see a certain range of light, depending on how much energy an object gives off in photons. If we did see reality in full, I'm not sure we would function properly, and be over exhausted with information.

Now I'm curious if anyone (Brain University) has done a study on visual interpretation and film/video. That would be very cool and interesting. Perhaps it would be useful in video games and the film industry. However, I believe that video games should be a work of art, and stop trying to be realistic. I think a video game is more beautiful when it does not try to emulate reality and focuses on looking good.

Fall Foliage!

Hello! Today after work, I decided to go out an take a picture of the foliage.

We still have a little while to go before most of the trees lose their green, but for now, here's a small sample.

This is a straight jpeg with no editing. Like it? Me too. The exposure was perfect!
